To enhance the presentation of this character, you will also create the following:

 

1. Prepare a 4 page brochure (8 ½ x 11) in a desktop publishing or word processing program for the talk show host, as well as distribution for future requests of a character performance. This will include a brief biography for your character. Also include:

 

·         A picture of character (digital - student in costume)

·         A biographical sketch highlighting birthplace, family, economic background, accomplishments, activities, education, etc.

·         An eye-catching cover

·         A minimum of ten images (clip art, jpeg's, bitmaps, digital images, etc.)

·         Font style, size, graphics, and color to enhance your publication

 

2. Create a 60 second video commercial to be shown as a profile highlight of your character. The commercial should reflect the individual and "sell" them to prospective markets interested in requesting a "visit" from this character.

 

3. Create a 4 page (8 ½ x 11) newspaper using desktop publishing, word processing and Presswriter software. This publication will depict events of the era selected. One feature article will be an interview of your character. Include:

 

·         Title

·         Volume, Edition, Date

·         Headline, Lead story

·         National events Local events

·         Society Page

·         Editorial Page with cartoon included

·         Minimum of twenty images - clip art, jpeg's, bitmaps, digital images, etc.

·         Font size, style, graphics, and color to enhance your publication 

 

4. Create a multi-media Power Point Presentation of 10 - 15 slides featuring and highlighting the historical events surrounding the decade/era your character lived/lives in. Include:

 

·         National events

·         State events

·         Local events

·         Current themes

·         Current philosophies

·         Art of the era

·         Literature of the era

·         Social Movements of the era

·         Contemporary Figures of the era

·         A minimum of twenty images - clip art, jpeg's, bitmaps, digital images, etc.

·         Font size, style, graphics, color, backgrounds, animation, and sound to enhance your presentation

 

5. Create and add to a database of information as your research progresses. Include:

 

·         A minimum of 30 URL's with a 3 sentence description of the site compiled in notebooks

·         A minimum of 50 images saved to the database.

·         Images may include: Internet, jpeg, bitmap, clip art, digital, scanned images

 

GATHERING INFORMATION

 

Take notes on the accomplishments and impact that your subject had on his/her time period. Be sure to get copies of art, diagrams, books, summaries of ideas, etc. that reflect these time periods. Cite your sources!! You will turn in a 5 page paper outlining your findings and focus for your oral presentation.

 

·         Design a presentation that contains a monologue of at least fifteen minutes.

·         Explain the major contributions to society.

·         Describe the impact that the subject had on mankind.

·         Answer specific questions and goals concerning the character's life (childhood, education, goals, occupation, hobbies, etc).

·         Use at least 5 annotated sources.

·         Include your references/links to related sites to build the database.

·         Use the Resources page to help you in your search.
